Medical Cannabis Scheme - How to Have Your Say
Medical Cannabis Scheme Consultation
The New Zealand Government has committed to establishing a Medical Cannabis Scheme
The Government has committed to establishing a Medicinal Cannabis Scheme to improve access to quality medicinal cannabis products through:
enabling the commercial cultivation of medicinal cannabis and the manufacture of medicinal cannabis products in New Zealand
setting standards for medicinal cannabis products so that medical practitioners can prescribe them with more confidence.
The proposed Medical Cannabis Scheme has been published and the Ministry is holding a series of consultation meetings around the country that CBDinfo has attended. The Ministry is accepting feedback on the proposal which closes on August 7th 2019.
How to Provide Feedback
The feedback tool is simple to use and steps users through the various questions and options. Feedback can be provided for all topics or just selected ones of interest to the respondent.
Importantly anyone can and should provide feedback to the Medical Cannabis Scheme. It is simple to do using the online survey tool on the Ministry of Health website.
The Ministry of Health says it will analyse the feedback and consult with its Medicinal Cannabis Advisory Group before providing advice to the Government on the outcomes of the consultation, including any proposed changes.
The aim is to have regulations made by 18 December 2019 and to have the Medicinal Cannabis Scheme operational in the first quarter of 2020.
